Skills library and sharing

Add ready-made skills to a team from kanman's library, share a team's skill with the whole workspace, see which teams use it and how current it is, and automate a skill.

A skill is a procedure kanman follows, such as how to upgrade a framework, triage a new CVE or review a migration. Each team keeps its own skills. You don’t have to write them all yourself: kanman brings a library of skills, and a team can share its skills with the other teams of the workspace.

Where you find it

Open Workspace settings > Skills. Browse skills in a team’s Memory and skills opens the same page with that team chosen.

At the top, Add to names the team the skills go to. Two views:

  • Library: kanman’s curated skills.
  • Your workspace: the skills your teams shared.

Every paid plan gets every skill. There are no premium skills.

Find a skill

Type in the search field: it searches titles, descriptions, when a skill fits, tags and connections as you type. Narrow the list with a category (Security, Testing, CI/CD and more) or with Needs, for example only skills that need Jira or a browser.

Choose a skill to see it in full: when it fits, the files it loads for, the connections it needs, the events it suits and its whole text.

Add a skill to a team

Choose Add to . The team gets its own copy in Memory and skills:

  • It is the team’s skill. Change it like any other skill; kanman keeps your changes.
  • It loads the way your team’s skills load: for the files it names, or always.
  • It cites where it came from, and the usual freshness rules apply.

Updates arrive to re-check

When a skill gets a new version (in the library, or because the sharing team shared it again), every team’s copy is marked to re-check:

  • A copy the team never changed takes the new text.
  • A copy the team changed keeps its text, and the note says that a newer version exists, so you can compare before you keep yours.

Share a team’s skill with the workspace

In a team’s Memory and skills, open a skill and choose Share with workspace (owners and admins). Other teams find it under Your workspace and add it the same way. Sharing it again after a change publishes a new version.

Under Your workspace each skill shows which team shared it, its version and the teams that use it, each with how current their copy is. Retire (owners and admins) takes a skill out of the list; the teams that use it keep their copy.

Automate a skill

Some skills fit an event, for example “CI turned red on main” or “every Monday”. Those show Automate in their preview. It adds the skill to the team when needed and opens the team’s Automations with a new automation that loads the skill. Check it and save it; nothing runs before you do.
