Audit
Where you read and export the audit log in the app, and how your tools read and export it through the REST API.
The audit log records every policy decision, approval, run state change and tracker write, with the actor (a person, kanman or the system), the team, the run and the result. You read and export it in the app or through the REST API. The file format is described in Audit export format.
Who can see it
Owners and admins open Audit in the main navigation (/<workspace>/audit). Members see the entry disabled.
Read the audit log
The audit page lists the entries newest first, with the columns Time, Actor, Team, Run, Event and Result. Load older entries loads the next page.
| Filter | Values |
|---|---|
| Team | One team, or All teams |
| Actor | People, kanman or System, or Everyone |
| Event | One event type, or All events |
| Run | A run key, for example run-7f3k |
| From, To | A date range |
The filters are part of the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.
Export
Click Export CSV or Export JSON. The file contains exactly the entries the page shows with your filters, in the same order. To export a longer period, set From and To and load older entries until the range is complete. An export holds at most 5,000 entries.
kanman keeps a record of every export: who exported, when, the format and the date range.
Retention
Admins set how long entries are kept under Settings, Audit retention. See Retention and deletion.
REST API
The audit endpoints need the token of a workspace owner or admin (other tokens get 403). Both take the filters of the audit page: team (team slug), actor (human, kanman or system), event (an event type), run (run key), from and to (YYYY-MM-DD or an ISO timestamp).
Read entries
GET /v1/audit returns entries newest first, paginated. Each entry has id, timestamp, actor (type, name, userId), team, runKey, event, result, entity (type, id, name) and details.
curl "https://api.kanman.ai/functions/v1/api-gateway/v1/audit?team=sandbox-team&event=decision_resolved&from=2026-10-01" \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $KANMAN_API_KEY"
Export entries
GET /v1/audit/export?format=csv (or format=json) returns a file in the audit export format with up to 5,000 entries, newest first. The header X-Kanman-Export-Count tells how many entries it holds, and X-Kanman-Export-Truncated: true that more matched: narrow from and to and export again. Every export is recorded like an export from the app.
