Personalize your team
Give each team its own wallpaper and icon so people recognise it at a glance.
Every team in kanman can have its own look: a background and an icon. It is a small thing, but it helps people know at a glance which team they are looking at, especially when a workspace has several teams working on similar repositories.
Where your team’s look appears
- on the team page, behind the board,
- on every run page of that team,
- next to the team name in the list of teams.
Changing the look
You can set the look while you create a team (the optional Look step of the setup, which you can skip) or at any time later, in one of two places that show the same settings:
- On the team page, click Personalize in the header. The panel Personalize this team opens next to the board.
- Or open the team’s Settings > Appearance (
/<workspace>/teams/<team>/settings/appearance).
Choose a background and an icon. Changes save as soon as you make them, and everyone in the workspace sees them.
Wallpaper
Choose Background image and pick a photo:
- Search: search free photos from Unsplash directly in the picker.
- Upload: upload your own image (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB).
- My Images: reuse images you uploaded before, or delete them.
With Blur you soften the image behind the board. Photos from Unsplash show the photographer’s name with a link to their profile, as the Unsplash License asks.
Colour or gradient
Instead of a photo, choose Background color for a solid colour or a gradient, or No background.
Icon
Pick an icon from the icon library. It appears next to the team name. Choose something that stands for the team’s area, for example a credit card for a payments team or a shield for a platform security team.
Readability
kanman darkens the background behind the board so that cards stay readable. If you prefer no translucency at all, choose Reduced transparency in your accessibility settings.
The look is purely visual. It never replaces text: team names, story titles and run statuses are always written out.
